Ok from what I figured out:
Your category, can be a ROOT category but it’s must have the default one as a parent.
It means values should be the following one in your DB (in my example the category I want to display got the id / entity_id = 35):
insert into `catalog_category_entity` (`entity_id`, `entity_type_id`, `attribute_set_id`,
`parent_id`, `created_at`, `updated_at`, `path`, `position`, `level`, `children_count`)
values('35','3','3','1','2008-08-01 15:01:34','2009-01-09 14:27:34','1/35','60','1','0');
Products associated to a category now need data from catalog_category_product_index.
if u do this request :
select * from catalog_category_product_index where category_id = 35;
and got 0 products, nothing will display. So what you can do is from the backoffice, remove all the products from your category, then put them again and they should display.
