I feel your pain. I used magento connect for the first time (always done upgrades manually in the past), and I have had the nightmare evening of my life.  It broke the store just like yours. To make a long story short, I had to trash the entire database, restore, then follow Garr’s advice in this post: http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread.../viewthread/2343/

It’s a horrible solution but the only way I can get my store up.  Commenting out:

catch (Exception $e){
// echo “<pre>”.print_r($e,1)."</pre>";
// throw Mage::exception(’Mage_Core’, Mage::helper(’core’)->__(’Error in file: “%s” - %s’, $sqlFile, $e->getMessage()));
}

in app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/Resource/Setup.php

is the only way I got it working. Terrible solution shut eye

No luck… I’ll have to tackle the upgrade later.. for now I am just trying to restore a backup from the 30th ... before this upgrade and having no luck.

http://www.monsterpowersports.com/

Same error .. even though it’s been restored.

I have full control over this dedicated server .... is there cache considerations at all I need to be aware of?

Heh.. I also just restored my old 1.1.8 and still have the same error!  I don’t understand it. Everything is restored just as it was, database, files, everything. I’m pretty pissed now >:(

I have some info - I found a folder under \app\code\core\Mage\ called “downloadable” that wasn’t there before. I deleted it and now I can see my store again.. still testing.. crossing my fingers.

Tell me about it. This is ridiculous....  I’m trying to wipe the /tmp directory or anything else outside the home directory that would be affected…

Otherwise I have to try for a fresh install on Friday and push forward with the upgrade....  when I actually have programmers available.

Give my last post a try if you have time - it actually fixed it for me. That damn downloadable folder was causing all the havoc. I hope this helps you out!  now i can finally try to enjoy the new year.. 15 minutes to go smile
