I’ve been using Magento for a few years now, and Paypal has never worked properly.
I’m using 1.6.1 and Paypal Standard was working, then it decided not to.
A user can make a payment using paypal, and they get redirected back to my site once the purchase is made.
They do not get an email from my site because the Payment Information is not transferred back to magento. So the system does not have an email address to send to.
However, in magentos back end, the payment says “Pending Payment” and the “Payment Information” section of the order is blank.
I’ve searched everywhere for a solution, but cannot find one. This has been an issue for me since magento 1.3x. It creates so much extra work for my customer service department, and thus aids in ruining the sites online reputation.
Do you have your “Payment Action” set to “sale” in magento admin?
Have you recently upgraded your site? When I upgraded my site, I started with a clean database, so my invoice numbers started over.
This caused paypal to say “Pending Payments”. There is a setting in paypal to ignore duplicate invoice id\’s.
Yes I have the Payment Action set to Sale and its a fresh 1.6.1 install…
It’s really getting me down now…
It wouldn’t be so bad if you could change the Status manually, that way I could at least check Paypal that the payment had been made and change the status accordingly.
All paypal orders are showing as payment pending in backend even if they paid.
I am using paypal web payment standard and the IPN.
This wouldn’t be to bad except, when customers place order on my site, go to paypal and then don’t pay an order is also created saying pending payment. This makes it so I have to check every order in paypal to see if they paid.
It’d be great if there was a way make it so that people who redirect to paypal but fail to pay not generate an order.
Perhaps Paypal Express could be a solution. I might try this out after 1.7.0.0 stable comes out (there are a bunch of error corrections for PayPal Express with 1.7)
