Magento 1.6 Paypal Pending Payment

I’ve been using Magento for a few years now, and Paypal has never worked properly.

I’m using 1.6.1 and Paypal Standard was working, then it decided not to.

A user can make a payment using paypal, and they get redirected back to my site once the purchase is made.
They do not get an email from my site because the Payment Information is not transferred back to magento. So the system does not have an email address to send to.

However, in magentos back end, the payment says “Pending Payment” and the “Payment Information” section of the order is blank.

I’ve searched everywhere for a solution, but cannot find one. This has been an issue for me since magento 1.3x. It creates so much extra work for my customer service department, and thus aids in ruining the sites online reputation.

Does anyone have a fix for this? I’ll pay.

I have the IPN pointing to:

http://www.mysite.com/checkout/onepage/success/

Is there something else I need to do?

Hi....

I’m using Magento 1.6.1, I’ve enabled the IPN at Paypal, im using URL ReWrite (Search Engine Friendly URLs) so it’s:

http://www.mydomain.co.uk/paypal/ipn/

Ive setup the Paypal redirect back to http://www.mydomain.co.uk/paypal/standard/success/ (this bit works)

However Im still getting the “Pending Payment"…

Please someone help…

Regards
Mark

That all looks good.

Do you have your “Payment Action” set to “sale” in magento admin?

Have you recently upgraded your site? When I upgraded my site, I started with a clean database, so my invoice numbers started over.
This caused paypal to say “Pending Payments”. There is a setting in paypal to ignore duplicate invoice id\’s.

Hi…

Yes I have the Payment Action set to Sale and its a fresh 1.6.1 install…

It’s really getting me down now…

It wouldn’t be so bad if you could change the Status manually, that way I could at least check Paypal that the payment had been made and change the status accordingly.

Thanks again… downer

Sorted it…

It was due to Offline Maintenance extension which allows admin to switch off the store view during maintenance operations.

This was switched on because the site isn’t live yet… so I’m guessing the extension was stopping the IPN getting to the correct location?

Anyway I switched it off and Paypal returned Processing, switch it back on… Paypal returned Pending…

Thanks for your help…

Regards
Mark.

We have been having same problems with PayPal for some time now and that is why we ended up developing a new PayPal module. IXEPP is new generation of PayPal payments experience. We sell downloadable products and IXEPP automates the whole process; absolutely 100% hands free.

Feature Highlights.
-Removes the whole re-directing to PayPal. It embeds PayPal into your magento site. (Embedded PayPal)
-Automatically verifies each transaction before creating order in magento.
-Sets the correct order status in magento once transaction is verified (Automatic Invoicing with manual override)
-No need to worry about IPN settings. IXEPP does this automatically.
-Automatically verifies eCheck payments from initial transaction and updates automatically when eCheck clears or fails to clear.
-Automatically sends out necessary notifications to customers.
-Fully supports physical & downloadable goods.
-Works for Magento 1.4.x to 1.6.x
-Comes with an integrated fully featured AJAX-based checkout pipeline( 2-in-1 module)
-Not to forget the customizable checkout & payment interface.
-Plug-N-Play - Easy installation. Can be installed in 2 minutes or less.

Try it for 15 days and witness the power of IXEPP for yourself.

You may checkout more about IXEPP here.

Paypal standard does not use an API. It simple allows payment and pushes you back to your success page (if you filled this out in paypal)

Paypal express is a better method and allows API to work showing payment processing instead of payment pending.

Thank you

We solved this issue: The reason was that a paypal.gif was in Magento´s root-folder; strange.
