I recently tried to install Magento on my Windows Xp Pro System. I have already installed Wamp 5 with PHP 5.2.1, MySQL 5.0.27-community-nt and Apache 2.2.4. My Rewrite Module is also enabled.

When I reach to Configuration Step I provide correct details for MySQL Database. I have copied Magento Directory to my Web Root directory (C:\wamp\www\magento) and set full permissions for all users.

The following information for Default Store is taken automatically:

HOST: localhost
BASEPATH: /magento/
PROTOCOL: http
PORT: 80

I think it is not required to be changed as far as I understand.

In Secure Connection section the following information is taken automatically:

SECURE HOST: localhost
SECURE BASEPATH: /magento/
SECURE PROTOCOL: https
SECURE PORT: 443

I think this is the place where some changes are required. As my local web server does not support SSL, the protocol https must be replaced with http and the port must also be set as 80. And I do that.

Now when I click on the Continue button, I receive the following error message:

Url "http://localhost:80/magento/" is not accessible

I even tried by setting Secure Connection settings as defaults i.e. SECURE PROTOCOL: https and SECURE PORT: 443
but I still get the same error.

I do not understand what I am missing.

Can anybody help me please? I was eagerly waiting for magento’s release to look the functionalities. But I get disappointed when I am successively failing during installation. Please help me.
