Magento

Hiya, I’ve just studied the designers guide and I think Im ready to try and build a complete Magento theme. Unfortunately, I’m not a designer, and neither can I find any decent free e-commerce templates that are licensed such that I can release the ported theme back to the Magento community.

If anyone has, or knows of a nice free theme (preferrable GPL or CC2.5 licensed), please post it here, and I’ll try to Magentisize it!

hey, I know of all the free themes sites, I also run this drupal themes site: http://www.alldrupalthemes.com.
My blog actually ranks #7 for ‘magento’ in google lol.

Anyways, I was looking for a real ecommerce design, I searched on oswd and no such design turned up.
I did find 2 or 3 nice free ecommerce designs on other sites but those sites did not allow redistribution of their work so theirs no way I can release a magento port…

Yes - I think it will be a challenge to find a design that can be redistributed. If you can find a design in OSWD that can be used as a skeleton, it would probably work well.

yeah if I can’t find a full-on ecommerce design I’ll have to suffice with a regular design but that I won’t have proper product grid styling and buy buttons and the like.

Is the template system “production-ready” yet? Or are there any more changes to come until stable release? Would be a lot of wasted time to do a complete theme if big changes are going to happen afterwards…

The other one wasn’t much of a theme to magento as they css only styled some basic html elements.
I would be much happier to find a complete free ecommerce template though, with a shopping cart block/login block and all.

I couple time saving hints from a designer to a non-designer, if you already know css, use it to the fullest extent of customization as possible. Effective use of attributes in order to properly repeat backgroun images so that you don’t need to create large-sized images as your backgrounds. Also take advantage of border stylization, and use padding and margin on internal divs to let the beackgrounds from their parent elemnts show through. A lot of “polish” such as this can be done without the use of images, or using relatively small images, and can really give your design that edge of finishing touch.

I have a problem with cu3er me explain:
I put the folder called cu3er in the path / skin / frontend / default / MyTheme.
Inside this folder I created the XML for the goods and I saved the img them within the images folder.
Then I went in the administration of the portal and the “Home Page” I added the following code:
