Just moved to Brisbane from the UK

Lets start the ball rolling on a Magento Aus Meetup.

Ideas?

Not sure what you’re envisaging exactly with a Au Meetup.

Here in NZ, we already run a Auckland Magento meetup organized by Fooman and myself: http://www.meetup.com/Auckland-Magento-User-Group/

As far as Aus goes, I’d be tempted if there was something big going on over several days perhaps like Innovate or I’d come over for the Magento Dev Certification if there were no plans to have them in NZ.

Maybe it would be worth getting into Rondha and seeing what Magento would help with in relation to creating some sort of convention?

Plus it would be excuse to drink beer for a few days..

The largest of Meet Magento was started by random people with a goal. We love to see that! <3

I suppose we would need to start up something small and eventually get to a weekend event.

Yeah, suspect the Magento communtiy in Oz is pretty small.
Also, it depends whether you are aiming for Magento users or developers… I’m in the former, so a devs get together wouldn’t do it for me.

But definitely worth putting it out there and seeing what interest there is…

It shouldn’t just be for devs, think it should be for anyone who fancies a few pints and wants to talk about commerce with Magento

I’m in! Let’s organise a little just for the heck of it. Sydney?

I agree that it shouldn’t be restricted to Developers. I am UX/UI and PM.

Hi lads! I will enjoy chatting with you as I learn the ins and outs of Magento.

I am an experienced C++ developer I used to work for Games companies (Krome and 2K Marin)

And I have about 5 years experience in php/mysql ect.

So its more about learning how to work with magento and make sure all my mods are easily incorperated for updates. (as 1.7 is looming! )
