I’m trying to upgrade but not having any luck, so far I created another site on the same server and copied my site to that, did the pear upgrade all thing and it came up with mysql errors, so I give up on that but I noticed that when I went back to my site that was coming up with all the same errors, how can that happen? I had to restore a backup.

So I installed a fresh version of 1.6.0 on another server, dropped the database and uploaded my 1.4.1 database accessed the site but after a while I got lots of more sql errors, I really want to upgrade but it’s not an easy task.

Any help?

Are you sure you didn’t have a redirect that sent you to your original site?

I just upgraded from 1.4.1.1 and it went very smooth

I don’t know why it did it, I copied the whole site to a new server and tried again and I managed to upgrade it, not without errors the main problem was it said customer_form_attribute and I think customer_eav_attribute_website already existed the only way I could get it to continue was to delete them, it seems to have put them back, do you think it will be ok before I go live? it seems to be running ok I’m just waiting for a couple of extensions to be updated to 1.6

Did you dump and restore a new copy of the database? If you restore your database into a partial upgrade it will leave the old existing tables.

I will start of on the database by doing a

#mysql> drop database databasename;

then

#mysql> create database databasename;

(Nice name, I used to do a Brewing Magento site)

I’ve gone through the upgrade process and all went ok but after I have finished I just get a blank page or IE shows it as a 500 internal error, I’ve ran
find ./ -type d -exec chmod 755 {} \;
chmod -R 777 app var media downloader lib js skin

but it still hasn’t fixed it, any ideas?

You have to emove all the keys in the database table before upgrading. The upgrade will recreate the right keys. Ask to an sql expert for this task.

I would disagree with the following statement, you should not have to remove any keys from your database. If anything you could turn off constraints before you start
