Hi. I’m a designer trying to get up to speed with a functional amount of web programming. The install for this is fairly tedious for a person like me with a basic XHTML/CSS background. I’m not sure how to get this thing running. Help anyone? Here’s the message that comes up during the install…

Setting preferred state to: alpha

config-set succeeded

Downloading and installing Magento, please wait…

So then I guess I need to have more in depth programming knowledge to even crack open this thing? I had read that Magento is misleading as it should only be marketed to very experienced developers. True? As I had mentioned, I have a serviceable knowledge of XHTML/CSS with only minor PHP knowledge. and as a designer the flexibility of design shown here is intriguing. But if designers can’t access this functionality, isn’t that a problem? I’m okay with checking out a different ecommerce solution, no big deal. I was just hoping that this was the one.

Looks like your server doesn’t have pdo_mysql installed.
You will have to ask your hosting provider to install it.
