when i click the ‘subscribe to order status rss’, firefox throws up the xml file and there is no convenient subscription screen as there is when using the other rss feeds.

is this normal behaviour?
it doesn’t look very good as the user is presented with a raw xml, the majority of which won’t know what to do with it.

using magento 1.1.8 btw.

Same problem here. With Safari, Opera and Explorer is OK but with Firefox it shows the xml.
Just to add that sometimes if I reload the page it works, but it is not predictable.

We use 1.1.6

Remember, rss is a flavor of xml. Unless you have one of the Firefox RSS Addons, you’ll see the xml. It’d be the same if you opened an xml file in the browser.
