I’m having the same problem in reverse (buttons in Firefox and IE but not Safari) — but even the buttons that show don’t allow upload of images, they merely bring up the Browse dialog and then cease to respond. Details:
Firefox 3.0.4 on Mac OS X
Safari on Mac PS X
Firefox 3.0.4 on Windows XP
Internet Explorer 7 on Windows XP

I’m having the same problem in Firefox and IE. No upload images button. Copied over full adminhtml folder, refreshed all caches, etc.
Edit: see thread http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/23613. I recopied adminhtml, refreshed all caches (including browser caches) and now it works in IE and Firefox.

For me the problem was I’d created a theme for my admin section by duplicating the default theme files some versions ago and hadn’t updated them when I upgraded magento. Check your flash files in skin/adminhtml/default/*/media folder.

I am having problem in front end Product Manger -> Add New Product -> Image tab, the uploading buttons not showing “Browse Files” & “Upload Files”, and I have found unusual solution but it works for me may be it works for you as well,
I have copied “media” directory
from :
skin\adminhtml\default\default
to:
skin\frontend\default\default
and problem solved
before this I have tried every solutions available in this forum but nothing works.
Here I must say that it’s very difficult to get the support of you problem in Magento!

I just encountered the same problem. I am on shared hosting and a few days ago I was tightening up the security (with 755 for dirs and 640 on files) since my host uses suExec and suPHP.
I made image files and css world readable but forgot to do the same for swf. Image upload relies on swf. So, make sure your permissions are correct. setting all swf in skin\adminhtml\default\default\media world readable fixed the problem.

MY SOLUTION:
Go to Firefox --> Tools --> User Agent Switching --> choose Default.
I had this problem on OSX running Firefox in USER AGENT IE7 “Vista” . All woas working great in Safari.....Also Firefox was crashing ocasionally, then I remembered I switch the the User agent to do some debugging....All works great now. No crashing, no missing buttons.

Hello Hello magento amigos...well this news may come of late for some of you if not then you are in luck.
While using wamp server I chose Firefox as my wamp client browser.
When you need to get images uploaded the browse button and upload button don’t show up.
Solution:
Download Flash Player from your Mozilla Firefox Browser or whatever browser you are using other than google chrome.
As chrome already has Flash Player built in and active once you download.
Install Flash Player then go back to your admin page product image uploads and VOILA!!!!
Happy developing....
