Hello I am in need of help,

I have installed the blank theme via magento connect and also manually. the directory in which its in is

app/design/frontend/default/blank/
skin/frontend/default/blank/

I have gone to system configuration design and set everything to blank ie templates css default etc and have selected the website and checked use default, and store view and checked use website.

I save and reload the home page and everything is working fine blank template is in use, If i search for a product then all is still good blank theme is still in use,

BUT as soon as I select a catagory or select the product it goes back to using the default template!! snake

the site is

http://www.mycoffeetable.co.uk/magentocommerce/

and caching is turned off.

If anyone can help would be much appreciated

thanks in advance Leon

I recommend that you don’t bother to keep the default theme.

Set everything to default;
move /default/default to default/default/old
move default/blank to default/default

In that way there will be fewer gotchas later on when you wonder ‘why will this extension not work’.

Maybe your categories have custom design.

Hi,

We’ve experienced this problem before with clients who install any theme with Magento Connect.
It sets itself as the default theme for all the categories.

To change it back:
1.  Login to admin
2.  Catalog > Manage Categories.
3.  Select a category from the left
4.  Click the Custom Design tab
5.  Change Custom Design to --Please Select--
6.  Repeat 3-5 for all categories

This should solve your problem, and shouldn’t effect any categories you add in future

Thanks all that have replied

It was that my catagories had a custom design and it was reset when I got a new theme, I didnt realise you could set a custom theme for each element of your store even down to a single product,

Just realising how powerfull this is especially for split testing landing pages.

Thanks again
