Hello,

This is my first post. I just installed Magento 1.1.8, and upon logging into Admin, can’t click on any of the tabs at the top. Dashboard is highlighted. I did quite a bit of research before submitting this, and found only one post - from July, which went unanswered.

I thought that this could possibly have something to do with permissions settings on the files being accessed, but if I view source and hard-copy-paste the links that should be exposed by clicking on these menu items, I can access the individual pages nested therein.

This occurs in both Firefox and IE in Windows XP. Any help would be appreciated, as I look forward to using Magento in the very near future.

- Matt (total noob)

What is your current file permissions? Please look into the file permissions especially /index.php, /js/index.php and /js.

Thanks for the response!

Overall Site: 755
Primary containing root folder: 755
(Root folder) index.php 644
First-level internal folders (var, media...): 777
report/index.php: 666
js/: 777
js/index.php: 666
...

When I originally set it up, I seemed to have a lot of problems with file permissions. If I set the root index to 666, it gives me a 500 Error because the page is writable by group.

Thanks.

This was solved, through the help of James at Context (http://www.contextsolutions.net)

Turns out suPHP was enabled on the host and I had php files that were group writable.

Hey guys,

I just installed Magento yesterday and am having similar problems. When I log into the admin panel, all I can do is view the dashboard. I am unable to click any menus. My co-worker sitting next to me can access everything just fine, even when logging in with my username. Also, when I log in, I no longer see the initial pop-up window. I’ve tried logging in using multiple browsers, i’ve cleared my cache, etc. Does anyone have any other suggestions? Seems like the problem has to be my computer is blocking that pop-up…
