When i click thru to this page, my category (Default) is not appearing.

I am also not able to add a category or sub category. once clicked, the system simply does nothing.

It seems to me you don’t have a root category. Click ‘Add Root Category’ and go from there ... you can call it ‘Default’ if you want to.

I had the same problems.

BUT It (again) is the js/index.php file issue....  it has to chmoded to 755

I guess the same issue that plagued the admin menus also effected the new “add root category” button

I did that, and I can add categories now.
