Hi!

I just posted this bug report which I could verify at two different Magento driven pages. I’m wondering if you are experiencing the same problems as I do. A few customers got lost because of that bug…

The error only occurs when SSL at checkout is enabled.

http://www.magentocommerce.com/bug-tracking/issue/?issue=4262:

Hello,

the Onepage Checkout fails with IE6 6.0.26000 on a fresh install of Windows XP SP 0. Newer versions of IE6 do not have any problems with the Onepage Checkout.

Checkout as Guest:
- After entering the invoice information, IE 6 redirects to the Shopping Cart when selecting “Same shipping address”
- If “Other shipping address” is selected, the next step is simply not being loaded, but the progress icon is being shown

The same problem occurs by entering a new invoice address as a registered user. This is not an issue when you select an existing one. In this case entering new shipping addresses works fine.

This problem has already affected many client orders… I really can’t understand why clients do not update their system, but this is reality. I hope that you understand the urgency of this bug and fix it as soon as possible.

Despite of that bug, keep up the great work!
Tobias

Hello,

I have created a new bug report for this bug, because the other one has been closed due to reproducability reasons. This is a video which demonstrates the checkout problems: http://www.grosse-puppendahl.de/magento/ie6-checkout-bug.swf.html

About 20% of our clients are using this configuration. The bug can be reproduced with some other magento driven shops.

The Onepage Checkout fails with IE6 6.0.26000 on a fresh install of Windows XP SP 0. This error does not occur in newer versions of IE6. SSL needs to be activated, checkout will work without SSL.

The bug report: http://www.magentocommerce.com/bug-tracking/issue/?issue=4706

Regards,
Tobias

I believe that this is now solved.

See my post - http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/23430/P15/

I found a possible solution.  I haven’t tested it completely yet.

I thoroughly searched the magento forums and Google and tried a lot of things.  This web page seems to relate:

http://qfox.nl/notes?1

His suggestion is to disable keepalives on POST requests.  I think that it’s the same situation.  IE6 is sending a POST via AJAX through SSL, and it hangs and eventually dies.

Try this in your apache config or htaccess:

<Limit POST>
SetEnv nokeepalive
</Limit>

Please let me know if it works for you.

It’s probably better to make this IE6 specific:

BrowserMatch "MSIE 6\.0;" nokeepalive downgrade-1.0 force-response-1.0

My understanding is that this really never should occur, so it’s safe to do it without a browsermatch.  I haven’t completely checked into that though.

Why do you suggest adding the downgrade and force-response?
