I ‘m having the same problem. By clicking on the upload images, jquery event shows a red, which in my view should be green?? What matters is that the image is not shown! Already checked the tmp folder, flash 9, Flash 10, and everything else .... any suggestions?

I got same issue on Magento 1.6 install for XAMPP.. I got a version of 1.5.1 running perfectly fine and image upload worked..

I tried changing flash to flash 9 but still no luck.. all folders have permissions and I get the red box when trying to import an image..

Makes no sense and I see I am not the only one with this issue..

Is this a bug in 1.6… Ebay bought magento so now can we expect to see more bugs and bugs, so stores switch over to eBay..

lol.. I hope not.. they already make enough thru paypal..

Can some1 please HELP ME FIX THIS?

I get the red box when trying to upload an image for a product..

thanks

I got the tip somewhere on a thread on this site, get my bug fixed but could not find that thread again to say thanks to the author. I post the solution that works for me here in the hope that it will help someones.

1. Download prototype.js version 1.6.xxx from developers’ site

2. Put it into magento subfolder:  /js/prototype with a new name (e.g prototype16.js)

3. In the file /app/design/adminhtml/default/default/layout/main.xml
replace the original line (line 58 in mage1.6):
<action method="addJs"><script>prototype/prototype.js</script></action>

to
<action method="addJs"><script>prototype/prototype16.js</script></action>

Flush the cache and then you can upload image for products.

I am not sure if this will cause problems with any other functionalitiy in backend but it works for imageupload functionality.

If somebody come across the original post kindly help me to say thank to the original helper!

Cheers

The AJAX Image Uploader module work fine with 1.4-1.6 Magento versions and adds absolutely new level of the user experience. Now all you need to upload the image is drag and drop the file from your PC to the upload area. No flash or other plugins needed.

I hope this helps to others too.
Solved: Replacing the old prototype.js file from /httpdocs/js/prototype/ with the latest js downloaded from http://www.prototypejs.org/download worked for me too. besides after replacing the js file I flushed the cache from admin too. (Cache button “Flush Magento Cache”, “Flush Cache Storage") and then on the product image uplaod page I did the ctrl+shift+r to again reload the page so that the latest js file could be loaded with the page in mozilla, I usually use mozilla browser.
I have installed magento version 1.6 stable and now product image upload problem is sloved and i hope that replacing the js file could not conflict with any thing else. plz make sure to bk the old js file it always a good habit to backup files.

This is probably not proper and is probably considered unsafe but it fixed my issue of images not uploading for products.

I\’m only posting this so that maybe someone can trouble shoot and find a safer fix?

I set the WHOLE directory that magento cart is in to permission 777. I\’ve heard this is unsafe but now I can upload images.

Guys, I tried adding a .htaccess file in the media folder with permissions set to 777 and it worked for me.

I put this .htaccess file with the contents below in the media folder, cleared the cache, and boom worked.

Options All -Indexes
<IfModule mod_php5.c>
php_flag engine 0
</IfModule>

AddHandler cgi-script .php .pl .py .jsp .asp .htm .shtml .sh .cgi
Options -ExecCGI

<IfModule mod_rewrite.c>

############################################
## enable rewrites

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on

############################################
## never rewrite for existing files
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

############################################
## rewrite everything else to index.php

RewriteRule .* ../get.php [L]
</IfModule>
