Just noticed the 1.6.0 upgrade is available for download. In the old situation you would use ./pear install magento-core/Mage_All_Latest and ./pear upgrade-all from the commandline.

But how should this be used in the new ./mage situation?

Hi this is what I am doing to upgrade

chmod 700 ./pear

./pear mage-setup .
./
pear install --force magento-core/Mage_Downloader
./pear install --force magento-core/Mage_All_Latest

chmod 700
./mage

./mage sync-pear
./mage list-installed
./mage list-upgrades
./mage install http://connect20.magentocommerce.com/community Mage_All_Latest --force

chmod 700 ./mage

./mage config-set preferred_state beta
./mage list-installed
./mage list-upgrades

I would say that I am having problems past this but the upgrade part works ok.  Sorry for the lots of lines but helps with reporting what has changed.

Regards
John

Can you describe exactly what I do to upgrade?
The codes that indicate where you should be included?
In what order?

Vout, you should have pear in your 1.5.

I think that Johns method is the best bet. I will also write a short WIKI on some of the Upgrade options.

Stay tuned

When you are doing that can you tell us how to upgrade from 1.4.2 to 1.5.1 (Example) while 1.6 is out.  I have done all my testing against 1.5 and that works - now that 1.6 has come out I have a problem with the DB upgrade bombing out with constraint violations and I want to put the changes I have made into productions :-(

Anyway - thanks for putting this into the WiKi.  send a link and I will add anything I find out too

Hi John,

Have you seen our upgrade guide from 1.4-1.5? T

***his theoretically should be able to work for 1.5-1.6 but I’m planning on having it tested out.

Apologies, this doc should have been on the wiki long ago. We’re working on it, I hope it helps.

Rhonda

Nice code, fits well in an upgrade.sh file;-)

I’m reluctant to upgrade yet, but i’ll save this thread for in about a month or too. Unfortunately we are having one issue that has been resolved in 1.6 (disregarding welcome email store_view) so we cannot wait too long. We’ve had several clients asking what the hack was up, confused at best.

Anyway, thanks.

I took all the steps one by one and now:

a) only mydomain/magento/downloader/ is working
b) both mydomain/magento and domain/magento/admin give me the following page:

Service Temporarily Unavailable
The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later.

Is it something usual? Do I need more patience?

p.s. I also tried deleting maintenance.flag file from the root folder but now both pages return:

HTTP Error 500 (Internal Server Error): An unexpected condition was encountered while the server was attempting to fulfill the request.

If it says that it is most likely still upgrading. This could take a while. Magento sets this value while upgrading extensions (optional), i’m sure it does by default when running these commands.

Strange.. I don’t understand what went wrong…

Brent can you please confirm if the following code should just do the job?

Note that I don’t have the pear in my root folder so I replaced it with maze..

chmod 700 ./mage

./mage mage-setup .
./
mage install community Mage_Downloader --force
./mage install community Mage_All_Latest --force

chmod 700
./mage

./mage sync-pear
./mage list-installed
./mage list-upgrades
./mage install http://connect20.magentocommerce.com/community Mage_All_Latest --force

chmod 700 ./mage

./mage config-set preferred_state beta
./mage list-installed
./mage list-upgrades

Thank you in advance

Just got this error while updating my 1.6 rc-2 development (localhost).

"Error in file: "C:\xampp\htdocs\inusual\app\code\core\Mage\CatalogRule\sql\catalogrule_setup\mysql4-upgrade-1.5.9.9-1.6.0.0.php" - SQLSTATE[42S02]: Base table or view not found: 1146 Table 'inusual.catalogrule_group_website' doesn't exist";i:1;s:960:"#0 C:\xampp\htdocs\inusual\app\code\core\Mage\Core\Model\Resource\Setup.php(645): Mage::exception('Mage_Core', 'Error in file: ...')

I remember having quite the same issue updating from 1.4 to 1.5. Does anyone have any clue about this?

Freaks me out having to update my production site from 1.5 stable to 1.6 :(

Thanks

Can you restart the install or does it just stay there?

I have the same problem - after upgrade the result is:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, ........ and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

How can be fixed this problem?
