Trying to install the new package (magento-0.7.14800.zip) under MAMP on OSX.

Getting this error:

Setting preferred state to: beta

config-set succeeded

Downloading and installing Magento, please wait…

Did not download optional dependencies: pear/XML_RPC, use --alldeps to download automatically

Fatal error:  Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 288 bytes) in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/magento/lib/pear/php/PEAR/XMLParser.php on line 106

My php.ini already had:

memory_limit = 32M
upload_max_filesize = 32M
post_max_size = 32M

Any ideas?

Thanks

This thread my help:
http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/1932/

Also, try setting the value in the .htaccess file as well, or instead of, eg.

<IfModule mod_php5.c>

php_flag magic_quotes_gpc off
    php_flag short_open_tag on
    php_flag display_errors on
    php_value memory_limit 32M
</IfModule>

It looks like the installer is using alot more memory than the actual application. The value in your error is 80 odd MB isn’t it? Your only just short “288 Bytes” of it working though… smile
