Hi,
After upgrading to Magento v 1.1.7 the product chooser stopped working.

At this url: http://www.domain.com/index.php/admin/promo_quote/new/

When you go to conditions then: Add condition “Product attribute combination” -> Product Attribute -> SKU -> is -> Open chosser

It gives this javascript error:
this.updateElement is null

Have you tried upgrading to 1.1.8?

I ‘ve updated to v 1.1.8 and the bug is still present.
I’ve reported a bug to Magento Team.

Before upgrading did you check your JS folder permissions?

all folders have the right perms.
does the product chooser work on your magento installation on v 1.1.8?

i’ve tried upgrading 1.1.6 to 1.1.7 but got a lot of errors. After downgrading again, i just tried upgrading to 1.1.8 thats when i first noticed the error. I dont want to go back to 1.1.6 because it’s a hassle and 1.1.8 seems to be noticable quicker…

Anyone got any ideas?

What rights should the js folder have?

Same here. I used SSH to set the permissions recursively again just to ensure they were all right but the error is still present.

Does Magento have an SVN or something similar so I can compare the codes from previous releases without actually downloading them?

Same problem here with a fresh 1.1.8 install. Unable to choose the specific category I want to add a rule to.

“this.updateElement is null” is the Javascript error I get using IE or FF.

Does anybody have any clue ?

They say the can’t reproduce the issue.
I’ll record a video and send it to them.

This bug is easely reproductible. This is the way I did it a few minutes ago :

Create a new empty database
Install a fresh 1.1.8 magento via the setup wizard
Log in administration backoffice
Create a new category
Create a new product
Assign new product to new category
Try to add a new catalog price rule
Give Rule Name
Select active rule
Select a user group
Click on Conditions
In the option dropdown, select Category
Click on “...”
Try to click on the selector icon

=> It won’t show up. Use Firebug to see the Javascript error

Category is not the only product attribute being affected. This is also reproductible using SKU criteria.

This sounds to me like a CRITICAL bug which must retain your attention because this breaks most promotion rules creation.
