I set Admin Base URL to admin/ (apparently a very bad idea) and now I can’t change it back the whole back end blew up. I can navigate to the place to change it but I can’t submit the changes. Is there any way to disable this without the back end?  As you can see there seems to be no theme.
HELP!

I managed to change it to {{base url}} (through the database) but it still does not have the layout back. I tried deleting the cache, nothing.

Sometimes the URL will have index.php in it twice. Removing the first index.php and the stuff after it makes it go to the correct URL. Something like this

http://embeddedmicro.com/magento/index.php/admin/system_config/admin/index.php/admin/system_config/edit/section/admin/?SID=wER+m3iD3FR49Smul96Kbi8RHaU8m0H3FvuhZ+mmao8=

I’ve made the same mistake. This problem you can solve in the database. Search in the table “core_config_data” for “url” in path with the LIKE %...% operator. I changed the following values:

admin/url/use_custom => 0
admin/url/custom
web/secure/base_url => http://www.domain.tld/
web/unsecure/base_url => http://www.domain.tld/

Greetings
Wolfgang

This is my own rational, so it maybe total wrong.  I didn’t want to make it any easier for someone to find my admin interface and try to hack it.

I seem to have this problem too (500 error for any /admin/ URL - it was working originally so I don’t know why it suddenly blew up!), but admin/url/use_custom and admin/url/custom do not seem to exist in my core_config_data table.  The other two are already set to my base domain.  My installation is 1.2.1.  Front end and Magento connect manager seem to work fine.

Any ideas?
