I am involved in a new but fairly quickly growing clothing company and have been looking for a better solution for inventory management. Currently, we use a series of Excel workbooks. We have had a few problems with that way of doing thigns:
-we have a few people who should enter orders, but that isn’t really practical with one Excel database
-everything has to be customized - invoices, packing lists, etc
-excel sheets become slow with large amounts of data
-not simple to use and understand
We have a site that uses Virtuemart and Joomla. It works well, but there are many limitations and I feel that many things have to be customized (2 for 1 sales, different size pictures, and other things). We also have to take data out of there and read the data into the Excel sheets which also track our retail store sales and wholesale sales. I’d much prefer to have one place to manage all of it that is simple and easy for most people to understand.
I found Magento about a month ago and have been considering trying it out to handle all of these things. I’d love to hear if anyone has used Magento for anything like this or if anyone has any thoughts. Thanks.
