I am trying to upgrade my 1.0 installation of Magento to the current version and after hours of searching and failed attempts I am at a loss.
I have read this… http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/upgrading_magento
From what I can tell I have two options…
1. upgrade using MagentoConnect Manager
2. upgrade using SSH Shell access
I tried the first option and went to http://your.server.com/magento/downloader (for me it would be http://magento.pinkpuppydesigns.com/downloader)… all I got was this error ”Fatal error: Using $this when not in object context in /home/fetchdes/public_html/ppd_magento/downloader/Maged/Controller.php on line 149”
So I tried the second option (using SSH Shell). Since I have not used MagentoConnect or Pear during the install I moved to the magento directory in Shell and executed this command… “pear install magento-core/Mage_All_Latest"… all I got was this error…
Failed loading /usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendExtensionManager_TS.so: /usr/local/Zend/lib/ZendE
xtensionManager_TS.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory
Attempting to discover channel “magento-core"…

Cannot initialize ‘magento-core/Mage_All_Latest’, invalid or missing package file
Package “magento-core/Mage_All_Latest” is not valid
Does anyone have some insight? I would love to finally get my magento cart up and running, but I am at a complete loss and verging on scrapping the whole thing and sticking with my antiquated Zen-Cart. Thanks in advance!
