Hi, We are following the screen cast tutorial on how to create a new theme. We are now ready to assign new theme to the store. However our interface does not correspond with the one in the tutorial? Please see attachment.

How do we tell Magento to read our second theme instead of the default?

OK, by going to System > Configuration > Design , then Under “Themes” and in the “Default” text we added our new theme name.

As my home page is using the 2COLUMNS-right.phtml I suppose I would not see any changes here but “About Us” uses “1column.phtml” so this is where our new theme will take effect, no?

Please view screen-shot to see our folder directory is correct.

Solved I hadent uploaded the new files.. grin

So now, to add ‘topLinks’ to the 1column.phtml file so they appear bellow my main Navigation.

I tried adding the php code to the 1column.phtml file as seen below but this does not call the links to appear on the page? what is missing? it works for the ‘breadcrumbs’.

<div class="middle-container">
            <
div class="middle col-1-layout">

<?php echo $this->getChildHtml('topLinks'?>

                <?php
echo $this->getChildHtml('breadcrumbs'?>

<!-- [start] center -->
                <
div id="main" class="col-main">

                <!--
[start] content -->

<?php echo $this->getChildHtml('content'?>

<!-- [end] content -->

                </
div>
            <!--
[end] center -->

            </
div>
        </
div>
        <!--
[end] middle -->

Please give a response

Thank you
