.htaccess problem

Hi there guys,

I run a magento install in a directory called ‘magento’ off my main website (http://www.site.com/magento).

My host runs both php4 and 5 and by putting:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

into the .htaccess file in the main site directory, the install works.

Now, I’m trying to install it in a main directory of a new site and have tried putting the:

AddHandler application/x-httpd-php5 .php

in the magento .htaccess file but then I get a 404 Not Found error (/home/fashiont/public_html/index.php)

However, the server IS running php5 as the phpinfo.php file says.

I’ve tried many variations and can’t figure out what I’m doing wrong or differently. I can’t help but think it’s something silly!

Help would be appreciated.

Ok it seems Magento can’t be installed on a temporary domain name!
