I know it is here on the forum somewhere, but I’m looking for quite a while and could not find a step-by-step guide to upgrade versions.
I’m on 1.5.0.1 and reading the improvements table on 1.5.1.0 I would like to give it a try.
Will my first upgrade and I have no clue how it should be done.
I have special themes, translations, and modules, but as far as I know I never changed any Magento Core files.
I’m in a shared server, so I have limited access to DUMP mysql tables. Even if I do, I realized once in the past that the tables create for magento in one folder (/magento) will not work on another folder (/magBackup), so I have no idea what I need to do in order to do the upgrade in a test environment first.
HI,
I’m 1.5.0.1 to and special theme and translations, no more modules ...
I’m the same request.
- In Magento connect when i click “check for upgrade” , no Mage_All_Latest in the listing ...

@carouze
Copy the attachment Mage_All_Latest-1.5.0.1.xml in your folder var/package.
Then logout and login again.
Now you see the selection Mage_All_Latest.
Klick the Check for upgrade button and select the Version 1.5.1.0.
Press Commit Changes and the upgrade will running.

@ehm01,
Ok I see, you are in the wrong thread.
I post the way to upgrade 1.5.0.1 to 1.5.1.0.
Your magento Version is older with the old ConnectManager.

Hi guys, I’m a newbie in Magento and everything was working ‘til I upgraded… I’ve got this “internal server error”, what do I have to change to 755 only local.xml and config.xml? Because I did that and did not work… please help
Thx.

well, then I’m getting more puzzled....
my magento is: Magento versão. 1.5.0.1
how could the Connect be older then the magento it’self?
How can I update manually then?
I had an old 1.4.xx install, that was update to 1.5.0.1 about 2 months ago.
what can I do to update my ConnectManager?
The problem turned out to be that after extracting the zip, the permissions on all my magento files were set to either 775 or 664, but my web host (midphase - shared linux) does not allow permissions to be higher than 755 / 644, or more specifically group and world cannot have write or execute permissions. (See http://midphasehelp.com/support/questions.php?questionid=297) I would not be surprised if your host is the same.
The solution seems to be to change permissions of index.php to 0644 or 0755. This worked and the 500 Internal Server Error was gone.
@ehm01,
If you are sure that your upgrade was successful two month ago.
Take a lock in your Admin panel. Which magento version was indidated in the footer.

the one I sent before 1.5.0.1
What I’m doing now, on the BACKUP site, is changing all permissions on files to 644 (my server do not allow 666)
looks like this could be an issue.
I do that using my FPT software, so will take a while…
and tomorrow I will be flying all day, so I can only check back Friday.
I will be working on it till late tonight, but I’m having a lot of hope on this 666-->644 issue.

Any ideas?
Double check yours permissions (644 and 755 for files and folders respectiv.) I had problems with that. Not that my problems went away, but at least I could update after running a permission setup on my whole magento.
