We are looking into deploying Magento Mobile for an Enterprise. It looks like Magento will manage the iTunes submission process, etc. for consumer related apps. What about for releasing an app privately through an Enterprise App store or via whatever Enterprise capabilities are present with iOS 4.x? Has Magento Mobile been released internally like this already?
With the release of iOS 4.x, Apple has given enterprises the ability to distribute iOS apps without going through iTunes. This makes a lot of sense for enterprises since they won\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\’t have to go through the iTunes store for internal use only applications. My question is related to this in that I am wondering whether Magento Mobile has been released through MDM (Mobile Device Management) methods or via internal wireless networks: http://www.apple.com/ipad/business/integration/
So imagine distributing Magento Mobile to an internal group so they can order products internally. It does not make sense to make this app available through iTunes due to confidentiality, security, etc. One way to do this is via side-loading, but that is not necessarily user friendly and can be quite resource heavy.
iTunes can connect to the iTunes store for purchase and download music, music videos, TV shows, iPod games, Audiobooks, Podcasts, movies, and Movie Rentals and Ringtones. It is also used to download Apps from the App store for iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad.
