Hi Folks,

I run Magento 1.1.6 on a VPS using Plesk as a linux server management tool.

Basically I would like to sell computer under one subdomain (i.e. and books under the second sub domain name (i.e. - of course both sites would have a different look and feel. Magento files are saved under (root folder)

I have seen and have read most of the topics on this site and watched also the videos (part 1 and 2) but unfortunately it doesn’t seem to be working in my case.

Okay here is the way I have configured my stuff:

1/ System -> Manage the shops

2 shops have been created

a/ Book Shop (code: bookshop) + root category (including already one category and 1 product) + 1 language (code: bookshop_fr)
b/ Main Website + different root category + 3 languages (still the default configuration)

2/ System -> Configuration

a/ default:

base url =
(both secured and unsecured)

b/ bookshop:

base url =
(both secured and unsecured)

3/ Files

Magento files have been saved under (root folder)
index.php and .htaccess have been saved under the root folder of

Now I don’t have a clue on how to configure the following lines in index.php

$mageFilename = ‘app/Mage.php’;

Accordingly to my own configuration.

Assuming that my absolute path to access the original “Mage.php” would be:

At this stage, I have the impression to play with a jigsaw, so I would appreciate to know where is the issue. Is there any good soul to show me the path to the truth and a bit of sleep…
