Maybe, Store Manager for Magento will help you to import images. It has Import/Export Wizards for products, categories, attribute sets, orders, customers and custom options. The wizards are easy to follow.

I have solved the problem very simply in 1.6.2.0 version.

Copy images with the exact names to folder:
/media/import/s/k
(/s/k is for example if your image is named sku...)

Use System->Dataflow profiles for Import/Export for best results and OpenOffice for editing CSV files.

I have found the solution.

You need to format the csv to UTF8.

Here is a step by step:

1. list a sample product on your store.
2. export the csv sample (for this go to: system>import/export>Dataflow - profiles then select export all products)
3. open up and edit the csv, make sure you use OPENOFFICE calc - This will allow you to edit and save in UTF8 format.
4. add the additional products line by line.
5. in the image field put this /myimage.jpg - that is forward slash and your image name
6. Ensure you place the product images in this folder: public_html/media/import
7. Now you need to import the csv (for this go to: system>import/export>Dataflow - profiles then select import all products, next you select “upload File”. You then need to select the file you just edited and upload it to the server.  Next, you will select “Run Profile”

Another page will apear and it should import all the products.

I hope this helps some of you!
Good luck!

How about uploading Images with System--mport/Export---Import?
How to upload gallery Images?

Well i found solution for Importing Image.Small_image,Thumbnail by Uploading Images in media/catalog/product folder and Using value /image_name.jpg in CSV file.

But the only Problem is the Gallery Images are not Uploaded.
Did any face similar problem or has solution?

For what it’s worth I solved my problem by uploading the contents of my /media/catalog/product dir in /media/import.

For example if I have a file named image.jpg, it should be placed as::

[path]/media/import/i/m/image.jpg

and NOT as::

[path] /media/import/media/catalog/product/i/m/image.jpg

This will help keeping the csv/xml untouched.

This worked perfectly, thanks for posting the solution!

I’m using Magento 1.6.2, and I’ve tried everything in this forum and I STILL cannot get this to work at all.

I’ve converted the file to UTF-8, and I’ve even tried multiple variations of the import directory and/or the file path;

I’ve tried
“/media/import/i/m/image.jpg”
“media/import/i/m/image.jpg”
“/media/import/image.jpg”
“media/import/image.jpg”
“/i/m/image.jpg”
“i/m/image.jpg”

My image names are in uppercase, but I have even tried renaming images as well as attempting to create directories in upper and lower case and still nothing.

Anyone have any insight on anything else to try?

I just spend the entire afternoon trying to import some data, errors after errors, I’ve managed to make it here. And my images will not upload.

I’m very surprised that some people manage to upload their images and some STILL have troubles with it. What’s wrong with the implementation? It would be nice to actually have a hint as to what directory the importer is trying to get the image from instead of simply a “Image not found!” simplistic, lame, message.

I have placed one image (11234.jpg) in

/media/import/1/1/11234.jpg
/media/import/11234.jpg

and have the CSV file’s value set to

/1/1/11234.jpg
/11234.jpg
/media/import/1/1/11234.jpg

and it does NOT work. WHAT IS THE CORRECT WAY WITH 1.6.2 ?? Can some give a detailed example? Surely doing exactly the same thing as someone else, to whom it works HAS to work, no?

I’m unable to import products and images too, using community 1.6.2.

Its pretty ridiculous that importing products is so hard to do. This should be one of the core features, unbroken and unchanged in every release.
