hi,
i am trying upgrade as per your upgrade pdf but in magento connect manager has no upgrade in there only module i have installed , some help would be appreciated.

when i\’m going to upgrade magento from old version I hold only the database and start a new installation

is the cleanest way

As a last resort you can also upgrade via FTP. I recently did that and it worked great!

I personally always upgrade Magento via SSH.
