Checkout Button on Shopping Cart Missing

Hello!

I upgraded my website to 1.5.0.1 with grayscale design.

I had the one page checkout activated but that was giving errors so I had to disable it. Could anyone explain why the one page checkout won’t work (once you click the checkout button, it hangs).

Now, I am missing the checkout button on the shopping cart:
http://shop.tantalizingstitches.com/checkout/cart/

After placing items into the shopping cart, customers can’t check out because the button is missing.

I have disabled the checkout.xml for the grayscale design. The problem persists.

Thanks,
El

Does is show up in the default theme? Is the greyscale theme 1.5 compatable?

Thank you for your response.

I just changed it to base/default. The checkout button is still missing.

There is an issues with a JS.file somewhere. I had the same issue changed the Jquery file it was working again. I would check if your themes uses old JQ.There is an issues with a JS.file somewhere. I ran into this problem after upgrading from 1.4-1.5

I solved it by copying the checkout folder from my base to my theme.

Same problem. I copied ENTIRE checkout template folder from base into my theme, but that didn’t change anything. Not using jQuery.

The theme I’m using I BELIEVE was based off 1.4. I’m wondering if there’s new javascript that 1.5 uses in the checkout, that wasn’t called in 1.4, and will need to add that in somewhere. I will investigate that next, but wanted to see if anyone had any clues on this.

So, I’ve fixed it, although I don’t know why it wasn’t working.

In app/design/frontend/mypackage/mytheme/template/checkout/onepage/review/info.phtml, I replaced

<?php echo $this->getChildHtml('button'?>
with
<button type="submit" title="<?php echo $this->__('Place Order') ?>" class="button btn-checkout" onclick="review.save();"><span><span><?php echo $this->__('Place Order'?></span></span></button>

Which I grabbed from button.phtml.

@merchantguru:: did you diff the checkout.xml file with the base checkout.xml ?

That fixed it for me

No, is that how the template knows to look for button.phtml there? I.e., does button.phtml need to be registered in the checkout.xml, so to speak, in order to be found?

I had the same problem but my theme did not come with a onepage .phtml and I had to make the modification in my core file app/design/frontend/base/default/template/checkout/onepage/review/info.phtml

Very strange, but not surprised at all with Magento.

Next time, when you’re missing a template file, you can copy it to your theme folder, and then edit it wink
Don’t change the core template files, because they can be overwritten with an update.

i’m getting the JS error when clicking the very last button in checkout…

Uncaught TypeError: Cannot read property ‘style’ of null @ prototype :1937

I’ve just upgraded to 1.7

The function its referring to:

show: function(element{
    element
= $(element);

element.style.display '';
Uncaught TypeErrorCannot read property 'style' of null (repeated 2 times)
    return
element;

},

Anyone seen this?

EDIT:

This has something to do with the terms & conditions. It works when I turn it off......
