I am trying to make an edit to the filename ph_callout_left_top.gif

I have already uploaded an image that I would like to replace this particular image with, but cannot seem to find the file containing this images code so that I may rename the file to my newly uploaded one.  I need a direct path to this as well please.

Thanks in advance.

Hey, thanks for the reply.  I know where the image is.  I am looking for the file that calls that image so I can change the name of it in the code and call a different image.  Any ideas?

Check the /app/design/frontend/default/default/layout/main.xml

and look for the following

<block type="core/template" name="left.permanent.callout" template="callouts/left_col.phtml">
  <
action method="setImgSrc"><src>images/media/col_left_callout.jpg</src></action>
  <
action method="setImgAlt"><alt>Our customer service is available 24/7. Call us at (800DEMO-NUMBER.</alt></action>
  <
action method="setLinkUrl"><url>checkout/cart</url></action>
   <
action method="setLinkUrl"><url>http://var-dev.varien.com:81/dev/minu/magento/</url></action>
</block>

Hello dr00t smile

That callout appears in the homepage, and the homepage is controlled by the CMS area in the Admin Panel. Log into your admin and navigate to CMS -> Manage Pages, then select ‘Homepage’ from the grid. You will see the entire HTML for the homepage saved there.

Thanks, this is exactly what I was looking for.

However, I was wondering… if I wanted to access this via FTP rather than using the CMS, can you provide me a direct file path?  Thanks.

<block type="core/template" name="left.permanent.callout" template="callouts/left_col.phtml">

   <
action method="setLinkUrl"><url>http://var-dev.varien.com:81/dev/minu/magento/</url></action>
</block>

nope not the right file....

In my current installation (0.7.14800) there is not a main.xml in the app/design/frontend/default/default/layout/ diretory, there is however a catalog.xml that does have the above code. The problem is I have updated the catalog.xml with a new url for the col_left_callout.jpg. double checked to make sure file has been saved and this is the correct installation directory, but the changes are not reflected on the website. The only main.xml file I found is in the app/design/adminHTML/default/default/layout/main.xml, but that file does not contain any code related to this issue.

Am I missing something?

thanks

josh

soo, I like talking to myself.

Instead of messing with the config.xml, I just changed the code in the left_col.phtml file. It works just fine now.

        <
div class="col-left side-col">

I couldn’t find the main.xml file as suggested here. the two files I found in that folder are labeled catalog.xml_bck & checkout.xml_bck

I’m trying to find that bit of code that will help me change the ALT tag for I don’t want it showing the DEMO info. Can anyone help? (Using Magento v.1.4.1.1)

Thanks!

Well.... no one answered but I found the solution with some help. So for anyone else that has this need here’s what I did.

I found the “catalog.xml” under the following folders:
/app/design/frontend/default/f002/layout/catalog.xml

And there I was able to find the ALT tag “Our customer service is available 24/7. Call us at (800) DEMO-NUMBER.” and change it to my custom text.

Hope it helps.

(Using Magento v.1.4.1.1)

I could manage to get upto here and I can see the above in my left column but when I modify this “Our customer service is available 24/7. Call us at (800) DEMO-NUMBER” which is not reflecting on website and wanted to add image at this place, Cannot do.

Could someone please advise.
