I read all the topics here, but I can´t solve the problem. When I type “localhost/magento’ I get “localhost/magento/install” but with a 404 Not Found.

My .htaccess:

<IfModule mod_php5.c>
php_flag magic_quotes_gpc off
php_flag short_open_tag on
</IfModule>

DirectoryIndex index.php

RewriteEngine on

RewriteBase /magento

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/media/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/skin/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !^/js/
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-l

RewriteRule .* index.php

Which operating system are you running, Linux / Windows / Mac

Are you using a package such as Xammp Wamp, or apt-get?

Can you post your httpd.conf file?

Sean

I don’t use Xampp or any other similar package. I have an individual installation of each product (Apache, PHP and mySQL)

I attached my httpd.conf file in zip format

Hi Imendes,

I’ve installed my magento on a similar “home made” config (Win XP SP2 / Apache 2.0.61 / MySQL 5.0.45 / PHP 5.2.5).

I’ve looked into your httpd.conf:
1 ) uncomment #LoadModule rewrite_module modules/mod_rewrite.so

2) change
<Directory “C:/Programas/Apache Group/Apache2/htdocs">

#
# Possible values for the Options directive are “None”, “All”,
# or any combination of:
# Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks SymLinksifOwnerMatch ExecCGI MultiViews
#
# Note that “MultiViews” must be named *explicitly* --- “Options All”
# doesn’t give it to you.
#
# The Options directive is both complicated and important.  Please see
# http://httpd.apache.org/docs-2.0/mod/core.html#options
# for more information.
#
Options Indexes FollowSymLinks

#
# AllowOverride controls what directives may be placed in .htaccess files.
# It can be “All”, “None”, or any combination of the keywords:
# Options FileInfo AuthConfig Limit
#
AllowOverride None

#
# Controls who can get stuff from this server.
#
Order allow,deny
Allow from all

</Directory>

This config works on my computer BUT there are many bugs in the application (when adding a category, a product, an attributes...).
