Hello,

for the start I have installed magento locally on XAMPP (Windows).
The installation completed successfully.

However, there is trouble with the Download Manager (Magento Downloader).
The list “Manage Existing Extensions” ist comletely empty.

And trying to install:
magento-core/Mage_All_Latest

ends with the error message:
Could not resolve host: magento-core; Host not found

How to fix this?

Hello,

When installing in 1.5+, the downloader is actually 2.0, so you\’ll need the proper extension key. In 1.5+, the extension key is now a URL for connect.magentocommerce.com. So instead of, say:

magento-community/OnePica_ImageCDN

You\’d use:

http://connect20.magentocommerce.com/community/OnePica_ImageCDN

Tried to use 2.0 extension key for a Language Pack to install but ends up with error messages. Something like cannot detect.

CORRECTION: though it complained of errors, it seems to have installed and I’m running the import tool.

I think the errors are when the management tool tries to display the module on that management page.

---------------------------------------------------------------

<s>Tried that (using http://connect20.magentocommerce.com/) and it works to download package, but install fails for the same reason

CONNECT ERROR: Channel ‘magento-core’ doesn’t exist

this is for http://www.magentocommerce.com/magento-core/Mage_Oscommerce oscommerce migration tool

any suggestions?</s>

If you are behind a proxy and have curl installed then your ONLY (could somebody please prove me wrong!) option for you to get the fabled Magento Downloader working is to edit the downloader php source.

open
downloader/lib/Mage/HTTP/Client/Curl.php

and add the following line after $this->_ch = curl_init(); //Line 372
$this->curlOption(CURLOPT_PROXY, “http://your_proxy_ip:your_proxy_port");
//like this
$this->curlOption(CURLOPT_PROXY, ‘http://proxy.hbis.hitachi.cn:8080’);

can this code is working on the magento downloader or another else? Can I use it on the admin panel?
