Hi guys, I’m working on getting this on the wiki, but in the meantime I’m hoping ya’ll can use it.  Here’s a brief intro. Download the document.

--------

For the Magento Community Edition users the new version of Magento Connect Manager (MCM), Magento Connect Manager 2.0, will become available. MCM 2.0 gives the possibility to install extension packages from the Magento Connect 2.0 channel server. The MCM 2.0 extension packages format differs from the previous MCM format, and the MCM 2.0 users will have the possibility to create extension packages in either old, or new version of MCM format, or both versions simultaneously.

In the new version of the MCM the mage shell script is used instead the pear shell script. But most commands are left without changes.

Rhonda

Hi, thanks for the PDF, much appreciated. I am trying to upgrade from 1.4 to 1.5 but Magento Connect Manager is not giving me any upgrade options - just a list of 3 modules that are already installed - Any idea why or how to fix this?

Any help is really appreciated!

If your 1.4 is a beta version you won’t be able to upgrade through connect.

It must be as no option to upgrade to given.

I have downloaded WinSCP to upgrade through SSH but I really haven’t a clue when it comes to this. I have added my log in details and selected FTP but then I can’t get commands to work - I think I’m missing something big!

Got any idea or guides for doing this? All I can find is the code to do it but that’s not working so I think I may have done something very basic wrong.

Any help or ideas much appreciated!

I don’t like the new profile guide and I just want to go straight to 2.0, not the new shitty one.

That’s a nice, well written guide. I do have one question. I am running Magento Community Edition 1.5.0.1. I go into the MCM, click on the Check for Upgrades button, and see none available. Shouldn’t 1.5.1.0 be available? I installed originally from the tarball. Thanks.

Thanks for the guide!

I’ve executed Mage_All_Latest and now I see all kinds of upgrades available.
Should I upgrade mage_all_latest tot 1.5.1.0 first, or doesn’t it make a difference which extension to upgrade first?

Thanks in advance
