In Magento Connect, does it say that your core Mage is 1.5.0.1?

You could try re-installing core

I have the same issue - I create a folder and it doesn’t show in the Media folder in the Insert Image dialog.  Of course it’s there because I see it via FTP and if I try to recreate a folder with the same name it does not allow me to because it already exists!

Sub-Folders that I copied into the Media folder don’t show up there as well.

shut eye

I too am having this issue with the insert image. On Enterprise, I am unable to see sub folders inside /media.

I have an installation of Community, and it shows blank squares for the images i’ve uploaded, no previews. The images don’t show on front-end either. HELP!

Delete all your cache, including your cache in your media folder. (Actually delete the cache files, don’t just go into admin and hit clear cache)

If you are running APC you will need to do a graceful restart to clear your APC cache

That did not work for me.  This appears to be a bug, I am hoping the next version comes out soon to fix this.  Alternatively, what would be the changes made to fix this so we don’t have to wait till the next update?

When you create the folder, what are the permissions?

I have the same problem. Media file manager only shows “storage root”.
Did someone solve this yet?

I have the same problem and discovered the media manager in the wysiwyg editor now stores (and looks) for files in the media/wysiwyg folder.  Now I’m looking where I can hack it back to the original media folder.  Of course, in the meantime I will have to move all my images/media files into that subdirectory.
