I want to upgrade from 1.4.2.0 to 1.5.0.1 but both Connect Manager and SSH are giving me a hard time. I dont see what I’m doing wrong, followed all the different instructions (this should really be updated to one single instruction).

In Connect Manager I ran this command: magento-core/Mage_All_Latest but not all packages are showing up for upgrade. This is what I have now in my Connect Manager:

Locale_Mage_community_nl_NL     1.3.1 (stable)          Magento Community Modules Dutch (NetherlandsLanguage Pack
Lib_PEAR     1.4.0.0
(stable)          PEAR Library
Mage_Downloader     1.5.0.0
(stable)          Magento Downloader
Lib_LinLibertineFont     2.8.14.0
(stable)          Libertine Open Fonts Project fonts for PDF print-outs
Lib_Mage     1.5.0.0
(stable)          Mage Library
Mage_Locale_en_US     1.5.0.0
(stable)          en_US locale
Lib_Phpseclib     1.5.0.0
(stable)          Phpseclib Library
Magento_Mobile     1.5.0.0.16
(stable)          Magento Mobile Xml Interface

I tried the command community/Mage_All_Latest in Connect Manager which gives me the complete list of packages to install but when I press install I get the error:

The same errors appear when I use this command in SSH:

./mage install http://connect20.magentocommerce.com/community Mage_All_Latest

Could someone explain what I’m doing wrong?

Don’t use Connect & Pear for upgrades as they are both unreliable.

This should work for you: http://www.webshopapps.com/blog/2010/08/upgrading-your-magento-site-without-downtime/

How stupid is that ... but thanx for the advice. I upgraded through FTP upload.

Hi Phuture,
We have found pear to be fairly reliable. More reliable then Connect.

Some syntax for pear/mage has changed with 1.5.

Where you allready seem to have some packages installed, you will have to first sync them to your pear/mage setup.
This is done with the following:

./mage sync

then run:

./mage install http://connect20.magentocommerce.com/community Mage_All_Latest

Hope this helps.

The connect method doesnt work good.
It will kill your site.

Try hiring a professional to do it.
