Hi, Im just new to Magento, moved over from being a disgruntled CRE Loaded fanboy, despite there resent change of heart, too little, too late.

Anyway Ive done a clean install of magento, and have tried to access the Magento COnnect feature, to only receive the follow error.

Fatal error: Uncaught exception ‘Mage_Core_Model_Store_Exception’ in /home/itzcompu/public_html/store/app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/App.php:1131 Stack trace: #0 /home/itzcompu/public_html/store/app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/App.php(570): Mage_Core_Model_App->throwStoreException() #1 /home/itzcompu/public_html/store/app/Mage.php(212): Mage_Core_Model_App->getStore(NULL) #2 /home/itzcompu/public_html/store/app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/Session/Abstract.php(74): Mage::getStoreConfig(’web/cookie/cook...’) #3 /home/itzcompu/public_html/store/app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/Session/Abstract/Varien.php(52): Mage_Core_Model_Session_Abstract->getCookieLifetime() #4 /home/itzcompu/public_html/store/app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/Session/Abstract/Varien.php(111): Mage_Core_Model_Session_Abstract_Varien->start(NULL) #5 /home/itzcompu/public_html/store/app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/Session/Abstract.php(43): Mage_Core_Model_Session_Abstract_Varien->init(’admin’, NULL) #6 /home/itzcompu/public_html/store/app/code/core/Mage/Admin/Model/Sess in /home/itzcompu/public_html/store/app/code/core/Mage/Core/Model/App.php on line 1131

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Magento Connect does like to force update of htaccess, php ini and other things like acess rights.

This silently creates problems without any warning…

Just before doing any Magento Connect, backup htaccess and php ini

Just after, even if no visible failure, check if these files have been changed, and edit accordingly.

Anyone have a detailed solution? Is it a common issue? is it my server? is it the installation?, what could those error messages be referring to?

In my experience I would advice you to do use the pear function via ssh command line.

Did you check the permisions http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/magento_filesystem_permissions
