Try to change value of memory_limit in php.ini , and restart Apache.

memory_limit=32M

Hi,

I’m also trying to install on OS X using MAMP.

When I click ‘Continue’ in the installer->configuration screen I get returned to the configuration screen - no error messages.

Am I missing something?

Mine still isn’t ...  could one of the support team make a suggestion or two please?

Tried the 32M in php.ini - same result ... can’t get past the config page in the installer (get returned to the installer config screen each time without any error message to say what’s wrong). Nothing in any of the error logs.

Thanks

Hi Moshe,

It’s a MAMP install on my local Mac - so can’t give a URL

Any ideas what to try to trouble-shoot?

Thanks

I have the same problem. During the install prozess a white page comes up. I have changed the php.ini to the discussed settings and did an restart of the whole installation prozess.

Same problem.. I now tried it 10 times with differnt settings, always the same effect.

Seems to be a general problem with the actual build…

Same error here. Interestingly enough, I also can’t get into my MySQL DB with Cocoa MySQL

I too have the problem described here. I’m using MAMP and upped the memory_limit to 128 MB. After everything downloads and supposedly installs, it just goes to a blank screen. Using the latest MAMP PRO for the install.

Installing on a mac

At first i had all kinds of installing problems , after solving this magento didn’t mail....
I’m running Itool9 on my mac server called on there support and all my problems are gone !

My advise to anyone using a mac look into Tenon Itools.

I’m also having this problem. I’m not paying for iTools, and the 32M fix didn’t help. Any ideas?

I was having the same problem that everyone else was talking about.  Here is what fixed it for me:
- When I first attempted to install magento, I was navigating my browser to localhost/magento/install ... and this wasn’t working
- So you actually have to navigate to your computers IP/magento/install, so in my case, 192.168.1.106/magento/install ...
- Everything else after this stays the same, host is localhost, database name is whatever you chose, username is root, password is root, etc etc.
- One other dumb thing I wasn’t doing was putting the database password, which is ‘root’ by default.

Anyway though, hopefully I explained this fairly well and it can help some people out.

You can also simply try using safari instead. I was previously using Firefox and changing to safari solved all my problems.

I’m having the blank screen problem as well. I’ve tried all the options posted and nothing fixes it. Using MAMP version 1.7.1, Mac OS X 10.4.11. I tried using my IP address rather than localhost but it won’t find the installer. I can only run the installer using http://localhost/magento

My MAMP settings are Apache Port: 80, MySQLPort: 3306, PHP Version 5 with Zend Optimizer checked and Cache using eAccelerator, Apache Document Root: /Users/alex/Sites

I’ve placed Magento in the same document root that the Apache server is pointing to, /Users/alex/Sites/Magento

Let me know if you need any more info or if I’m doing something wrong.

Alex
