Hello,
I have successfully installed Magento under XAMPP 1.6.4 (Following guidance http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/general/installing_on_windows_with_xampp_and_wamp)
I can login to magento admin backend and browsing frontend with no problem.
But Now I can not Login to phpmyadmin. The error message is “ #1045 - Access denied for user ‘root’@’localhost’ (using password: YES)”
I try uninstalling XAMPP, and fresh reinstall it again, and then install magento again, and can’t login again to phpmyadmin.

Any solution to this ?

Thank you.

I try to Backtrack the step, and I found the cause of the problem.
at http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/general/installing_on_windows_with_xampp_and_wamp, the instruction is to edit apache\bin\php.ini and php\php.ini .
The cause of the problem is at editiing the apache\bin\php.ini.
If only editing php\php.ini, there’s no problem occurs.

Please correct me if I’m wrong, as I don’t understand the tags inside the php.ini file.

It should be good to attach the config files to your post, or post what are the changes you did, so community members would be able to help you.

I follow the instruction exactly from this guidance http://www.magentocommerce.com/wiki/general/installing_on_windows_with_xampp_and_wamp from fresh install of XAMPP 1.6.4(newest). If I can’t login to phpmyadmin after the edit, All people using this guidance will not be able to login too.

i used the same guide and can log into phpmyadmin just fine. you probably just mistakenly borked your php.ini while trying to edit it.
