What controls the admin navigation links?

Okay, here is my problem… I have configured the menu system (config.xml) for a module. This has created some drop down menus. All the links work. The problem is when I click on some of the links another section (such as catalog) is highlighted in the navigation menu instead of my module (News).

So, I am looking for where in the code it sets which top level admin link to highlight or any information related to where magento processes the links

Thanks!

You can set the active menu item in your Adminhtml controller with something to the effect of:

$this->loadLayout()->_setActiveMenu('yourmodule/yourmenuitem');
