Sirs,

Since yesterday we are having much trouble with our store.

Customer can´t add prodcuts to cart, can´t login and, with this, sales is slowing down....

the only thing that changed were the trafic.

We use to have 7000 or 8000 visits per day. since yesterday we have almost 9000.

the server is getting busy… te Load average is more than 3 (used to be 1.0 to 1.5).

I don´t know if it´s causing the problens with the orders and customer login… I realy don´t know what to try now!

I already rebooted the server.. and it´s wtill confused…

the server is a dual xeon 2.4Ghz, 2Gb RAM, 2 x 73Gb Raid 0 SCSI. Cache and session dir are in memory. Eaccelerator disabled.

thanks for your help!.

Regards,

Did you read this article?

http://www.magentocommerce.com/blog/comments/performance-is-key-notes-on-magentos-performance/

Also, there’s some little adjusts that you can apply to your Apache (changing KeepAlive param and using Gzip).

I found a problem with the daylight saving hour. The server forward one our automaticly. And, as we will only enter this special time on sunday, I decrese one our. with this the last two days where the worst days of our sales… people running IE and with computers one our foward too simply can´t add product to cart or create an user account.

I found this problem yesterday and forward one hour again the server time. by now it seams to be fine and the high load should be about this too.

I´ll keep monitoring…

As soon as I got new information I let you know.

It should be enough to increase Cookie Lifetime (System -> Configuration -> Web -> Session Cookie Management) to 7200 (that is 2 hours - so it will cover the difference)

@Michael,

I was just thinking on it… as you sad, should be enough. Thanks I´ll keep the 3600 by now and will increase it to 7200 if I need.

@Damián

The current load is between 2,24 and 1,10.

So the cookies generated a lot of exceptions on server, am I right?

I´ll keep monitoring all day long…

Thank you guys for the help.

>> MySQLTuner 0.9.9 - Major Hayden <major@mhtx.net>
>> Bug reports, feature requests, and downloads at http://mysqltuner.com/
>> Run with ‘--help’ for additional options and output filtering

-------- General Statistics --------------------------------------------------
[--] Skipped version check for MySQLTuner script
[OK] Currently running supported MySQL version 5.0.58
[OK] Operating on 32-bit architecture with less than 2GB RAM

-------- Storage Engine Statistics -------------------------------------------
[--] Status: -Archive +BDB -Federated +InnoDB -ISAM -NDBCluster
[--] Data in MyISAM tables: 688M (Tables: 349)
[--] Data in InnoDB tables: 217M (Tables: 533)
[!!] BDB is enabled but isn’t being used
[!!] Total fragmented tables: 8

-------- Performance Metrics -------------------------------------------------
[--] Up for: 2d 0h 36m 46s (4M q [26.166 qps], 81K conn, TX: 3B, RX: 1B)
[--] Reads / Writes: 79% / 21%
[--] Total buffers: 634.0M global + 10.3M per thread (400 max threads)
[!!] Allocating > 2GB RAM on 32-bit systems can cause system instability
[!!] Maximum possible memory usage: 4.6G (234% of installed RAM)
[OK] Slow queries: 0% (19/4M)
[OK] Highest usage of available connections: 8% (34/400)
[OK] Key buffer size / total MyISAM indexes: 512.0M/243.0M
[OK] Key buffer hit rate: 99.5% (1M cached / 7K reads)
[OK] Query cache efficiency: 60.8% (2M cached / 3M selects)
[!!] Query cache prunes per day: 143820
[OK] Sorts requiring temporary tables: 0% (39 temp sorts / 423K sorts)

[OK] Table locks acquired immediately: 99% (4M immediate / 4M locks)
[!!] InnoDB data size / buffer pool: 217.4M/8.0M

-------- Recommendations -----------------------------------------------------
General recommendations:
Add skip-bdb to MySQL configuration to disable BDB
Run OPTIMIZE TABLE to defragment tables for better performance
Enable the slow query log to troubleshoot bad queries
Increase table_cache gradually to avoid file descriptor limits
Variables to adjust:
*** MySQL’s maximum memory usage exceeds your installed memory ***
*** Add more RAM before increasing any MySQL buffer variables ***
query_cache_size (> 96M)
table_cache (> 512)
innodb_buffer_pool_size (>= 217M)
