I’m planning out a new site that will use Joomla as a CMS and Magento as the ecom section. What I’d like to do it make content pages in Joomla with the products on them and use “Add to cart” links to add the products to the cart and take the user to the Magento side of the site. I DON’T want to use forms though, I want to use URLs.
Can I make a URL that will add a product to the cart (without using a form)?
Basically, I’m looking for similar functionality to what LiteCommerce has. (See Attachment.)
Out of the box this is not possible. Magento requires the user’s session ID as a parameter of the Add to Cart functionality. If you don’t pass it through, it does not know what user should *get* the product in their cart. You would have to override the add to cart controller, check for a session ID, and if one didn’t exist, you would have to create it, then add the item to that user’s cart.
