Magento admin not responding after import

We’re running a product import using the standard profile. The imported file contains 20 products. The import runs fine and reports 100%. After closing the import window the active admin session hangs and is totally unresponsive for a long time, at least 10 minutes, sometimes more.

Other people using the admin interface at the same time doesn’t experience any problems or slowdowns.

Anyone else has this problem? Solution?

We’re running 1.1.6 by the way. We don’t think we had this problem earlier.

hey,

yep there is something going on. Im running 1.1.6 and everything was fine for the first few loads, then now when i attempt to load any products it takes approx 10mins to complete load. The server is thrashing http requests and sql queries. So something in the backend is being done..

I just wish i could work out what!

If you find anything let me know

cheers

"Throw RAM at it!”

...also consider using IE for your uploads so your normal Firefox browsing doesn’t risk crashing your upload. This is good practice when uploading 30K products a go…

yeah, that is one option. But i dont think it solves the issue.
It seems that after the import has initially completed its doing a lot of SQL queries. Im wondering what these queries are, and whether they are really necessary.

Thanks for the tip about IE: i use FF mainly, but ill give it a go on my next import and see what gives
cheers
