1 Magento, 2 shops, 2 domains?

I have a Magento store, it works fine. I’m told I can have another store, on another domain, that uses the same Magento installation, but I haven’t a clue how to set this up. Can anyone point me to a step-by-step guide to this?

Is there a downside to this set-up? I want 2 different stores, on two different domains, with different themes, selling entirely different products (one is scooters, one is furniture). I do not want customers to go through the same checkout, and I do not want to get a single database of customers all jumbled in together.

Any advice as to how this is meant to work would be greatly appreciated!

If you dont want a single database of customers jumbled, then why have a single magento installation?

Hi there,

instructions for how to set this up are here:

hope this helps..

this will not get you separate customer lists.. as the poster above states.. just use 2 installations.

Just an update .. there is a setting in the backend that allows you to / or to not share customers between shops
