look forward to the digital download capability - for MP3,s it would be great to have a preview of the song prior to download.
Zencart can do this but it is like going through a jungle trying to get it organised - hope Magento can achieve this - I must say that ecommerce has become exciting again with Magento, and many, may thanks to the team there.
The ability to purchase files is going to be a HUGE asset to Magento. I am going to be working on a music site in the next 2 months so you’ve got a sure-fire Beta tester right here.
I signed up just to add my 2 cents to this. To me this is more important that physical product support. Do you know how darn hard it is to find a decent digital store system .. and I don’t even have a product to download.
I am hunting high and low & I really hope Magento is the answer. I need to be able to have users “buy” access to a test (or multiple tests). This is a a restricted access system, you still add tests to your cart and pay for them, you might want to buy gift vouchers for friends who want to take the tests ... I can’t find anything that supports this
is it taken off the roadmap? I don’t see it anymore.
If the stable release will feature downloadable products I might be able to run an important site (for me anyways) off of it very soon.
Downloads / Virtual Products are expected right after the production release at this time. We are currently working on updating the roadmap and compiling a full feature list for Magento 1.0
