After upgrading from Magento 1.3 to 1.4.1, the method $this->getSkinUrl(’images/myimagename.jpg’) returns “base/default” as the path, instead of returning “default/mythemename”.

In the System -> Configuration -> Design, I have the Package “default” selected. In Themes - Default and Themes - Skin I have my current theme. However, when I call getSkinUrl(), it is not returning the proper path.

Any ideas?

ok, this is working perfectly, if the image file is missing in your custom theme directory then trying to show default location “base”. Just be sure you have the correct image file.

Say, you are trying to show twitter.gif, then first be sure file is in your_theme/images/twitter.gif

then simply try <?php echo $this->getSkinUrl('images/twitter.gif'); ?>

must work.

It can be also permissions problem.
Check permissions for your image files.

Refresh your image cache if it’s still not working…
