Magento

I have 2 sites using version 1.0 and 1.1 of Magento and our abandonment rates and response time for checkout have gone horribly wrong compared to our previous shipping cart software.  Can somebody tell me if the current version of Magento 1.16 improves the performance and success rate of the 1 page checkout?  Also has anyone created another way of doing checkout with Magento- perhaps where the user does not have to step through 5 clicks to checkout?  How about 1 or 2 click checkout in Magento.. now that is sorely needed.

Google checkout?

We use google checkout but that is not an option for everything and they still don’t support Europe outside of the UK.

Has anyone developed a custom SIMPLE checkout with fewer clicks?  Would be interested in splitting the cost with anyone experiencing the same issue.
