I was following some steps for increasing my page speed… one of the things was enabling compression in htaccess.  Now its showing in internet explorer that my pics on my homepage (which are just https URLs) and my navigation bar are preventing SSL to show the blue badge in the address bar.  What can i do about this?

Adblock shows that these 2 files on the homepage aren’t being served over SSL:

acc_is_here.png
ipad-acc-home-pic.jpg

make the urls relative instead of using the full url, that should fix the problem. I’m guessing you used the CMS editor in which case it should be quite easy

I think I know what you mean by relative urls but not the proper way to use them.

Also what about on the checkout page? I don’t know what’s the problem preventing SSL there…

The checkout problem is because of this file: js/lightwindow/images/black.png

that’s the only file which is showing up under privacy report in IE, FireFox is able to load the page without throwing any errors. To fix this you need to edit this file: skin/frontend/default/apple_//js/lightwindow/lightwindow.js

Do a search for the word “Black” and then replace the 2 instances of http:// which appear.

i searched and replaced all http with https in that js file but i’m still having the same problem on the checkout page..

how did you view that privacy report in IE?  i don’t see it, i’m using IE 8… and whether i choose to display secure items or not the page still looks the same… odd.

Thanks for the help on the home page, i must have forgotten to switch the http to http when i switched images recently… the home page still does not work in IE though…

according to godaddy, IE is seeing the absolutle links such as in the top navigation and marking them as unsecure items.  He said i have to change them to https.  How can i accomplish this though?  won’t this make then make my site entirely https while browsing categories, thus killing my search engine rankings?

I think a better solution would be to have a custom checkout page and change the links within there only… any idea how i can accomplish this?

Linking to non-secure pages won’t have any effect on the SSL page, there is no need to change them. The security error will be shown when something is being served from a http:// url on a https:// page, which will be javascript, css or a media file

just caught this by chance: same file as last time, the black images are linked to as “httpss” and also trying to use a different store url (www.ecommerce-store.it)

Change the url to https and make the files link to your own store - hopefully that’ll fix it
