Hello All,

I’m trying to install magento with a XAMPP (LAMPP) package on a ubuntu host.
I’ve so far successfully downloaded, unpacked magento 1.1.6 and the sample database.
Also I’ve configured my database with XAMPP and all services are running

I’m basically following this wiki article
installing_magento_via_shell_ssh

However when I execute this command

./pear mage-setup .
I get the following output

/opt/lampp/htdocs/magentosite# ./pear mage-setup .Running initial setup...

I’ve looked further into the

php_network_getaddressesgetaddrinfo failedName or service not known
error and it seems that it normally appears when the nameserver settings aren’t correct.
However the file responsible for the error, namely
/etc/resolv.conf
lists correctly my nameserver.

Has anyone else seen this problem or knows of a possible workaround?
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Warm regards
dimi
