Hello,

I just finished installing Magneto, and I’m having a little problem.

I don’t have my SSL yet, so I just skipped the URL validation in the setup.  The install seems fine except for the fact that I get a page cannot be displayed error anytime the site tries to access a secure connection.

I can’t even get into the admin section to make any changes to this because it requires a secure connection.

I know others might have had this issue, and I tried to search for it, but I just didn’t know what to type and didn’t have any luck.

Any help is appreciated, and thanks so much for this great product!

Travis

Ok,

I have now activated my SSL and everything seems ok.

Sorry about that.

During installation, you need to choose “http” in the https configuration settings. And also change the port to 80.

For future use in development environment (I do not recommend running this on production) you can under system->configuration->web setup the ‘Secure’ pages of Magento to run the HTTP protocol and not HTTPS (see attached image) and change it once you have the SSL cert ready.

Thanks

I’m bumping this thread.  The screen shot given doesn’t look like what I have.  Am I supposed to set this somewhere else to get a secure checkout?

Magento ver. 0.8.16100
