I was able to successfully implent the above solution with Magento community 1.7 and Enterprise 1.12

Although i did some minor modifications the media.phtml as I removed the pop image load and added a main image swap on click for the thumbnails.

You can find the a post and a link to the source in Github <a href="http://gayanhewa.info/magento-image-color-switch-for-configurable-products-htm/">here</a>

Fix for jQuery 1.9

Instead of

var optionValue = $(this).attr('value');

use

var optionValue = $(this).val()

Hi,

I am a bit confused. I have seen this functioning.

My only concern is:

If a user selects a color from the DropDown, the image changes, and when he/she clicks on Add to Cart, at this point of time, the image does not reflect in the cart.

It just shows the default base image there…

Has anyone figured this out?

Hi

This Images as Custom Options extension will resolve all the color swatch issues with one installation.

Your store will be equipped with the advanced set of custom options applicable for a simple product:
- Add any number of required options such as: styles, types, colors (specify title, price, select image per option)
- Add several images to have the main product picture updated according to the selected color or anything else.

- Set the sort order to adjust to order of options appearance on the page
- Price is set for each option individually and the total is updated once an option is selected
- Fully AJAX driven product page
- and many more

Check the product page to find an example website. Test simple product link can be checked as well; the extension will work with any kind of product type configurator: clothing, doors, etc.
